San Geronimo Valley: Woodacre, Forest Knolls, San Geronimo, and Lagunitas
If you live in the Valley, you’ll drive west from Fairfax and over White’s Hill to go home. As you drop down to the San Geronimo Valley, you’ll see grassy fields grazed by dairy cows, and at sunset stirring skies. Where are all the people? Enjoying one another, raising their families, and tending to their homes and gardens in a peaceful, woodsy place less than 30 miles from the big city. The Valley offers exceptional hiking and biking trails, including challenging single-tracks that lead to hilltop meadows with 360° views. Local treasures include Roy’s Redwoods, a grand stand of old-growth redwoods; Spirit Rock, a Buddhist meditation retreat; a hidden jewel of a reservoir called Kent Lake; the Farm Stand, the Valley’s popular, roadside organic grocery; and Arti Natural Indian Café. And when you get the hankering for more civilization, you’re only 15 minutes from Fairfax, and 30 from Point Reyes Station.
